Last night at Lincoln Center’s Out of Doors program, we saw a performance by the hula dance company Na Lei Hulu I Ka Wekiu. I think the way they blend traditional hula with contemporary music is brilliant and really works. The piece that moved me the most was the Annie Lennox song “Primitive” although I thoroughly enjoyed the grass-skirt hula “Elements”. That dance was like the Chippendales meet Hula–campy fun! Anyway, I guess the reason why I like hula so much is that it seems similar to Tai Chi with the slow, fluid movements. It’s so peaceful and last night was the perfect night for an outdoor concert.
Ahhhh!!! I missed the hula again! Oh man… Hopefully next time.
I’ve got to update my blog too. I’ve been slacking big time!
Ooops. I should have called you!
No worries… We really (on my part more than anyone else’s) have to get together!!! Are you free this Friday? I’ll call you and maybe we can meet up?
Let me know… Or I’ll call you tomorrow (Thursday).
